Chris Jones's Baseball Journey
Chris Jones grew up in Liverpool, New York, a town near Syracuse, New York. He finished high school there in 1984. After high school, he was chosen by the Cincinnati Reds in the 1984 Major League Baseball Draft. This is like a special selection process where teams pick young players.
Starting in the Minor Leagues
After being drafted, Chris spent six years playing in the Reds' minor league system. Minor leagues are where players develop their skills before joining the main MLB teams. He worked hard to improve his game.
Making it to the Major Leagues
In 1991, Chris Jones finally made his big league debut with the Cincinnati Reds. This was his "rookie year," meaning his first season in MLB. He played in 52 games that year. After his time with the Reds, he joined the Houston Astros for a season.
Playing for New Teams
Chris Jones was part of some exciting moments in baseball history. In 1993, he joined the Colorado Rockies. This was their very first year as a Major League Baseball team! He played with them for two years.
After the Rockies, he spent two years playing for the New York Mets. Then, in 1997, he played for the San Diego Padres. In 1998, he again joined a brand-new team, the Arizona Diamondbacks, for their first season. He also played for the San Francisco Giants that same year.
His final MLB team was the Milwaukee Brewers in 2000. After his time in the major leagues, he continued to play in the minor leagues until 2004.
Life After Playing Baseball
After his playing career, Chris Jones stayed involved in baseball. In 2004, he played for the Newark Bears, an independent league team. These teams are not part of the MLB system.
Becoming a Manager
After playing for the Bears, Chris became their manager for two seasons, from 2005 to 2006. A manager is like the coach who leads the team. In 2007, he became the manager for the Kannapolis Intimidators. This team was a minor league team connected to the Chicago White Sox.
Family Life
Today, Chris Jones lives in Phoenix, Arizona. He lives there with his wife, Crystal, and their two children, Christopher and Crishana.
