Early Life and College Basketball
Chris McNealy was born in Fresno, California. He went to Roosevelt High School there. After high school, he continued his basketball journey in college.
He first played at Santa Barbara City College. Then, he moved on to San Jose State University. He played for San Jose State from 1980 to 1983. During his college years, he was recognized as a top player. He was named First-team All-PCAC twice, in 1982 and 1983.
Playing in the NBA
In 1983, Chris McNealy was chosen in the NBA draft. The Kansas City Kings picked him in the second round. He was the 38th player chosen overall.
He later played for the New York Knicks in the NBA. He was with the Knicks from 1985 to 1988. Before joining the NBA, he also played for teams like the Bay State Bombardiers and the Albany Patroons. In 1986, he was named a CBA All-Star. He was also on the CBA All-Defensive First Team that year.
International Career
After his time in the NBA, Chris McNealy played basketball internationally. He spent many years playing in Europe. He played for several teams in Italy and Spain.
