Christopher M. Smith (born October 12, 1879 – died October 4, 1949) was an American composer. He was also a popular performer in Vaudeville, which was a type of live stage show with different acts like music, comedy, and dancing.

Chris Smith's Life Story

Chris Smith was born in Charleston, South Carolina. When he was young, he started traveling with "medicine shows." These were traveling groups that sold fake medicines and entertained people.

Later, he joined Vaudeville. He performed alongside other famous entertainers like Elmer Bowman and Jimmy Durante. Chris Smith also wrote music for Bert Williams, who was a very well-known comedian and singer. Chris Smith passed away in New York City on October 4, 1949.
