Christina Haswood was born on April 17, 1994. She is an American politician who served in the Kansas House of Representatives. She was a member of the Democratic Party.

Christina Haswood represented the 10th district in Kansas. This area includes parts of Douglas County. She served from 2021 to 2025. Haswood was one of the youngest people in the Kansas Legislature. She was also the third Native American person to serve there.

Early Life and Education

Christina Haswood is a member of the Navajo people. When she was a teenager, she was named Miss Indian Youth of Lawrence.

She started her college education at Haskell Indian Nations University. There, she earned a degree in Community Health. After that, she went to Arizona State University. She earned a Bachelor's degree in public health in 2018. In May 2020, she completed her Master's degree in Public Health. She earned this degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Political Career

In May 2020, Christina Haswood announced she would run for office. She wanted to join the Kansas House of Representatives. Many important people supported her campaign. These included the previous representative, Eileen Horn. Former Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius also supported her.

During her campaign, Haswood started making videos. She posted these videos on TikTok. She shared parts of her life and campaign activities. These videos became very popular. People from all over the country sent small donations. Because of this, Haswood raised the most money in the race.

On August 4, 2020, Haswood won the primary election. She received 71% of the votes. No Republican candidate ran against her. So, Christina Haswood was elected to the Kansas House without opposition. This happened on November 3, 2020.

In 2024, she ran for a state senator position. She challenged Marci Francisco, who was also a Democrat. However, Haswood lost in the primary election.

Serving in the Kansas House

Christina Haswood wore traditional Navajo clothing. She wore this special attire during her swearing-in ceremony. This ceremony took place on January 11, 2021. She also posted videos of the ceremony on TikTok. These videos were featured by news outlets like BuzzFeed and Vogue.
