Christine Moya McGlade (born August 25, 1963) is a Canadian expert in digital design and strategy, a business leader, and a university professor. She was also a well-known TV producer and children's television host.

About Christine McGlade

Christine McGlade is most famous for being a host on the popular kids' sketch comedy TV show You Can't Do That on Television. This show was seen in Canada on the CTV Television Network and in the United States on Nickelodeon.

She was part of the show right from the start in 1979. Back then, it was a local TV show in Ottawa, Ontario, on the station CJOH-TV. She stayed with the show until partway through the 1986 season. In 1985 and 1986, Alasdair Gillis was her co-host. Christine also hosted Whatever Turns You On, a short spin-off show that aired in 1979.

For nine years, Christine was the Director of Interactive at TVOntario. This is Ontario's public educational TV network. In this role, she helped create successful digital projects like Inside Disaster and Green Heroes.

She also worked on social issues as the Director of Interactive for getinvolved.ca. This is Canada's largest volunteer network.

Today, Christine is a senior partner at a company called Analytical Engine Interactive Inc. This company helps businesses with digital strategy. She also teaches at several colleges and universities. These include OCAD University, Humber College, Centennial College, and Sheridan College. She teaches subjects like digital strategy and data.

TV Host and Acting Career

Hosting You Can't Do That on Television

Christine McGlade joined You Can't Do That on Television by chance. According to a fan website, she only went to the auditions in 1978 to support a friend. She didn't plan to be an actor or work in TV. But the show's creator, Roger Price, told her she had to audition or leave. Christine auditioned and was chosen for the show, but her friend was not.

When the show first started in 1979 and 1981, it was live and an hour long on CJOH. Christine often introduced live contests and music videos. Later, the show became a half-hour comedy program. Christine then became the main character in many of the episodes' stories.

She also hosted Whatever Turns You On in 1979. This was a half-hour version of You Can't Do That on Television for the full CTV Television Network. It didn't have live parts or local content. In 1982, she hosted Something Else. This was another spin-off show that included the live and music parts that were no longer in YCDTOTV.

Christine's nickname on the show was "Moose." This was also her nickname in real life. Christine shared on her personal blog that a classmate gave her the name in sixth grade. It was because she was always the smallest kid in class. She thinks the classmate was thinking of the character "Moose" from the Archie comics. When she told Roger Price this, he decided to use it in the show. So, Christine became known as "Moose" to millions of viewers. Even though she often joked about the nickname, it stuck with her and other long-time cast members like Lisa Ruddy and Les Lye.

Christine was a host until the "Garbage" episode in the 1986 season. By then, she was the last original cast member, besides Les Lye. Her departure was not directly shown on camera. However, some viewers think her last scene was a funny way of saying goodbye. In that scene, she and other cast members were taken off the set in garbage bags. After Christine left, Alasdair Gillis became the main host until he also left at the end of the 1986 season.

Overall, Christine was the third longest-serving cast member. She appeared in ninety-one episodes of YCDTOTV and hosted eighty-nine of them. Only Les Lye (all 144 episodes) and Abby Hagyard (113) were in more episodes.

Later Acting Roles

After leaving YCDTOTV, Christine starred in Turkey Television. This was a comedy show on Nickelodeon also created by Roger Price. She acted in the show with former YCDTOTV castmates. Christine also worked as an assistant producer for Turkey Television.

In 1983, she hosted Let Me Prove It on a TV service called C Channel. This show later aired again on YTV from 1988 to 1991.

In the early 2000s, while producing short TV segments called Snit Station for YTV, she sometimes played a character called "The Wart."

Production and Digital Career

Christine McGlade moved to Toronto when she was 21. She studied at OCAD University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and later a Master of Design. She now teaches there too.

From 1992 to 1999, Christine worked as a producer, director, and writer for adult news shows at TVOntario. She also worked at its French-language sister station, TFO. From 2005 to 2012, she was the Director of Interactive and Digital Media at TVOntario.

From 1999 to 2000, she produced and directed the CBC Playground block of preschool shows at CBC Television. Then, from 2000 to 2003, she created and produced the Vortex and Snit Station show blocks at YTV.

She was a senior partner at Q Media Solutions from 2012 to 2014. In 2016, she started her own digital strategy company, Analytical Engine Interactive Inc.
