Christopher Hyatt (born Alan Ronald Miller, July 12, 1943 – February 9, 2008) was an American psychologist and writer. He was also interested in occultism, which involves the study of hidden knowledge and spiritual practices.

Hyatt started a publishing company called New Falcon Publications. This company focused on books about spiritual growth and understanding. They published works by famous authors like Israel Regardie and Timothy Leary. Hyatt also helped start the Thelemic Order of the Golden Dawn in Los Angeles in 1990.

Early Life and Adventures

Alan Miller was born in Chicago during World War II. His father was a police lieutenant. Miller said he left high school at age sixteen. He worked as a dishwasher and cook, traveling across the United States. Later, his obituary mentioned he left high school at 17 and joined the U.S.Navy.

His Studies and Work

Alan Miller studied experimental and clinical psychology. He became a psychotherapist, which means he helped people with their mental and emotional health. He used credits from his military GED to start college at Los Angeles City College. He first studied accounting, but later changed to general psychology.

He earned master's degrees in experimental psychology and medical education. He also became a counselor. Miller was part of a therapy clinic in Southern California. He spent time learning about hypnosis at two different places in Los Angeles and Irvine. He also earned PhDs in clinical psychology and human behavior.

Miller used special therapy methods, including some inspired by Wilhelm Reich and tantric yoga. He also used hypnosis with his patients. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, his research was published in professional journals.

Exploring Occultism and Publishing Books

Miller became interested in the the occult when he was in his early twenties. He wanted to learn more about magick, which refers to specific spiritual practices. He met Israel Regardie in the 1970s. Regardie taught Miller about a type of therapy before teaching him about magical systems. Regardie also taught him about the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

In 1980, Miller started his publishing company, New Falcon Publications. He began using the name Christopher S. Hyatt for his writings. He published books from his home in Sedona, Arizona.

In 1987, Hyatt joined a group called Ordo Templi Orientis. He became a high-ranking member of this group. Later, in 1990, he co-founded the Thelemic Order of the Golden Dawn with David Cherubim in Los Angeles.

Later Years

Christopher Hyatt passed away from cancer in Scottsdale, Arizona, on February 9, 2008. He was 64 years old.
