On September 17, 1936, a very big flood hit the South Concho River. The flood destroyed the Baptist gathering place and parts of Christoval. Sadly, some people were swept away by the fast-rising water. After the flood, the gathering facilities were never rebuilt. The land later became a public park for everyone to enjoy.
