What Makes Chromatic Spring Special?
Chromatic Spring is not just any hot spring. It has a unique connection to another nearby hot spring called Beauty Pool. These two pools are like siblings that share water.
How Do Chromatic Spring and Beauty Pool Connect?
When the water level in Chromatic Spring goes up and overflows, the water level in Beauty Pool goes down. The opposite also happens: if Beauty Pool fills up, Chromatic Spring's water level will drop.
These changes in water level can happen over different time periods. Sometimes it takes a few weeks, and other times it can take several years for the levels to shift.
What About the Temperature?
When the water levels change between the two pools, their temperatures can also shift. The temperature in Chromatic Spring usually ranges from about 164 to 175 °F (73 to 79 °C). During these water level changes, the temperature can go up or down by about 10 °F (5.6 °C).
