Career history

Chrys Chukwuma (born May 12, 1978) is a former professional American football player. He was a talented running back who played for several teams. These included the Las Vegas Outlaws in the XFL league. He also played for the Tennessee Titans and the Edmonton Eskimos. Later, he joined the Montgomery Maulers and the Arkansas Stars.

High School Achievements

Chrys Chukwuma went to Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a fantastic player there. In his senior year, he ran for 1,200 yards. He also scored 16 touchdowns! Because of his great performance, he earned "all-state" and "all-metro" honors. This means he was one of the best players in the state and city. Chrys also played on the track and baseball teams.

College Career at Arkansas

After high school, Chrys went to the University of Arkansas. He played for the Razorbacks team. In his first year, he set a new record for freshmen. He ran for 590 yards, which was the most ever for a freshman at Arkansas.

During his second year, he gained 186 yards and scored 3 touchdowns. However, a back injury stopped him from playing the rest of that season.

As a junior, Chrys led the Razorbacks with 870 rushing yards. He also scored 8 touchdowns. He helped his team win a share of the 1998 SEC Western Division championship. In his senior year, he was the second-best rusher. He gained 552 yards and scored 8 touchdowns. He also helped Arkansas win the 2000 Cotton Bowl Classic against their old rival, Texas.

Chrys Chukwuma's Professional Journey

Starting in the NFL and XFL

After college, Chrys was not chosen in the 2000 NFL draft. But the Dallas Cowboys still signed him as a free agent in 2000. This means they picked him up even though he wasn't drafted.

In 2001, Chrys was drafted by the Las Vegas Outlaws in the XFL Draft. The XFL was a new football league at the time. While playing in the XFL, he had a cool nickname: "Chuckwagon."

On May 8, 2001, the Tennessee Titans signed him. But he got injured before the season began.

Playing in Other Leagues

On April 23, 2002, Chrys signed with the Edmonton Eskimos. This team plays in the CFL. However, he was released from the team on June 6.

Chrys didn't play professionally again until 2005. That year, the Montgomery Maulers signed him. He had a fantastic season with them. He ran for 535 yards and scored 25 touchdowns! He also caught 7 passes for another touchdown.

On December 15, 2005, he signed with the Arkansas Stars. In the 2006 season, he rushed for 324 yards and scored 10 touchdowns for the Stars.

In 2008, he was drafted by Team Arkansas for the All American Football League. However, this league never actually played any games.
