Chuckie Williams (born December 31, 1953) is a former American professional basketball player. He was known for his amazing shooting skills during his college years. Chuckie played as a shooting guard and made a big impact on his teams.

Chuckie Williams' College Basketball Career

Chuckie Williams played college basketball at Kansas State University from 1972 to 1976. He was a guard who stood 6 feet 3 inches tall. His coach was Jack Hartman. Chuckie was one of the best long-range shooters at the school. He played for four years and helped his team win many games.

The Kansas State Wildcats had a great record of 82 wins and 30 losses while he was there. They even reached the "Elite Eight" twice in the NCAA Tournament. This means they made it to the final eight teams in the national college championship. In 1973, his team also won the Big Eight regular-season championship. Chuckie played alongside other famous players like Mike Evans and Lon Kruger.

Becoming a Top Scorer

After his second year, Chuckie Williams greatly improved his scoring. He went from averaging 5.3 points per game to 22.1 points per game the next season. This was one of the biggest scoring jumps in the school's history! He led the Wildcats in scoring and helped them reach the Elite Eight again in 1975.

Because of his great performance, Chuckie was named first-team All-Big Eight. This means he was one of the best players in the Big Eight Conference. He was also recognized as an All-American, meaning he was one of the top college players in the entire country.

The next year, Chuckie helped his team win over 20 games for the second year in a row. He was again named first-team All-Big Eight and received more All-America honors.

Setting Records at Kansas State

Chuckie Williams was born in Columbus, Ohio. He still holds many records at Kansas State University. He is in the top 10 for 24 different school records. For example, he made 22 field goals in one game, which is the most ever. He also tried 42 field goals in one game, another record. In a single season, he made 290 field goals and attempted 594, both school records.

He is the sixth highest scorer in Kansas State history, with a total of 1,364 points. For 19 years, Chuckie held the school record for most points in a single game with 47 points. He scored these points against Holy Cross in 1975. Later, another player named Askia Jones broke this record with 62 points in 1994. Chuckie also shares the record for most points in an NCAA Tournament game, scoring 35 points against Syracuse in 1975. Overall, he averaged 16.2 points per game during his college career.

Professional Basketball Career

In 1976, Chuckie Williams became only the second player from Kansas State to be picked in the first round of the 1976 NBA draft. He was chosen as the 15th pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He played 22 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1976–77 season. He averaged 1.7 points per game. Sadly, a back injury during his first year as a professional player ended his basketball career early.
