Chuckie Williams' Basketball Journey
Chuckie Williams is a basketball guard who stands 6 feet 3 inches tall. He played college basketball at Kansas State University from 1972 to 1976. His coach there was Jack Hartman. Chuckie was known as one of the best long-range shooters for his school.
He played for four years and helped his team, the Wildcats, win many games. They had a great record of 82 wins and 30 losses. The team also reached the NCAA Elite Eight tournament twice. In 1973, they won the Big Eight regular-season championship. Chuckie played alongside other famous players like Mike Evans and Lon Kruger.
Amazing Scoring Skills
After his second year, Chuckie Williams greatly improved his scoring. He went from averaging 5.3 points per game to 22.1 points per game. This was one of the biggest scoring jumps in the school's history. His excellent play helped Kansas State reach the Elite Eight in 1975.
Because of his great performance, he was named first-team All-Big Eight. He also received an award called Helms Foundation All-American. The next year, Chuckie led his team to another season with 20 or more wins. He earned second-team All-America honors from several sports publications. He was again named first-team All-Big Eight and a Helms Foundation All-American.

Chuckie Williams grew up in Columbus, Ohio. He still holds many top records at Kansas State University. He is in the top 10 for 24 different single-game, season, or career statistics. For example, he made 22 field goals in one game, which is the most ever. He also attempted 42 field goals in a single game.
In one season, he made 290 field goals and attempted 594, both school records. He is also the sixth all-time leading scorer for the school, with 1,364 points.
Chuckie held the school record for most points in a single game for 19 years. He scored 47 points against Holy Cross in 1975. Later, Askia Jones broke this record with 62 points in 1994. Chuckie also shares the record for most points in an NCAA Tournament game. He scored 35 points against Syracuse in 1975. During his college career, he averaged 16.2 points per game. He also grabbed 2.7 rebounds per game in 84 games.
Professional Career
Chuckie Williams was only the second player from Kansas State to be chosen in the first round of the 1976 NBA draft. The Cleveland Cavaliers picked him as the 15th overall player. He played 22 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 1976–77 season. He averaged 1.7 points per game. Sadly, a back injury in his first year as a professional player ended his career early.
