Chula is a small place in Tift County, Georgia, in the United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it does not have its own local government like a city or town.
You can find Chula along U.S. Route 41, which is a main road. It is also close to Interstate 75, a big highway. Chula is about 7.2 miles (11.6 km) north-northwest of a larger town called Tifton. This community has its own post office with the ZIP code 31733.
A Look Back at Chula's Past
Chula had a different name once. It was first called "Ruby."
When Chula Became a Town
In 1904, the Georgia General Assembly decided to make Chula an official town. The General Assembly is like the state's law-making group. They gave Chula a special document called a "municipal charter." This charter allowed Chula to have its own local government.
Why Chula is Not a Town Anymore
However, this change did not last very long. Just two years later, in 1906, the town's charter was "repealed." This means the decision to make Chula an official town was taken back. So, Chula went back to being an unincorporated community. It has been that way ever since.
