Chuquibamba is a town located in southern Peru. It is the capital of the Condesuyos province, which is part of the Arequipa region.
The name Chuquibamba comes from the Quechua language. Chuqi means "ore," and pampa means "plain." So, the name means "plain of ore."
As of 2005, about 3,066 people lived in Chuquibamba. The town is also home to a very old high school called Colegio Nacional San Luis Gonzaga, which has been around for more than 100 years.
