History of the Church
This beautiful church was designed by a famous architect named Sir Robert Rowand Anderson. The main part of the church was built a long time ago, between 1866 and 1867. Later, in 1897, a special part called the Lady Chapel was added.
On December 14, 1970, the Church of St Michael and All Saints was given a special title: a 'category A listed building'. This means it's considered a building of national or even international importance because of its unique history and architecture.
The church is not just for regular services! It has also been a venue for concerts and special events during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. This festival is the biggest arts festival in the world, and it's exciting that the church gets to be a part of it.
