The Church of the Resurrection is a small, green wooden church in Hurley, England. It belongs to the Church of England and has been around since 1861. This church is part of a larger group of churches in the area.

A Look Back in Time

This church wasn't always just a church! When it was built in 1861, it first served as a school. Kids in Hurley learned their lessons there. On Sundays, the same building was used for church services.

Later, the school moved to a new brick building right behind the wooden church. This brick school was eventually taken down in 1998. A brand new school was then built a short distance away. If you visit, you can still see the old foundations of the brick school in the car park!

About the Church

The Church of the Resurrection is made of wood and cast iron. It has a green color and sits right on the edge of the village of Hurley.

A short distance from the church, there is a graveyard. In this graveyard, you can find two special graves. These are the graves of soldiers who fought in the First World War. Their graves are cared for by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. This group makes sure that soldiers who died in wars are remembered.

Part of a Bigger Group

The Church of the Resurrection is part of a group of five churches. This group is called the Kingsbury and Baxterley group. The other churches in this group are:

All five of these churches share the same main priest, whose name is John White. The church is also part of a larger area called the Deanery of Polesworth. This deanery is part of the Archdeanery of Aston.
