About Chyna Whyte
Early Life and Music Start
Chyna Whyte was born and grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. She started rapping when she was a young child. In 1992, she decided to make rapping her career. She spent years creating demo tapes with producer Donald "XL" Robertson. She sent these tapes to many record labels.
She talked with famous music producers like Dr. Dre and met with people from Roc-A-Fella Records and Def Jam Records. However, none of these deals worked out for her.
Working with Lil Jon
Later, Lil Jon called her. At that time, he was working for Jermaine Dupri's label, So So Def Records. Lil Jon had received her demo tape and wanted her to come to Atlanta. He was forming a group called Full Time Family and wanted her to join.
They all met in the studio and recorded an album together. However, this album was never officially released. Chyna Whyte then recorded many songs on Lil Jon's albums. She also released some of her own songs. These included "Blocka Blocka," "Thug For Life," "What They Want," and "Girls Get Buck" with Master P.
Lil Jon and Chyna Whyte signed a deal with TVT Records. But Chyna Whyte did not get to release her own albums through this deal.
Career Breaks and Comeback
In 2001, Chyna Whyte had a break from her music career. She was unable to record for a few months. However, her probation officer allowed her to travel and perform concerts again. She left Atlanta during this time. She returned to Atlanta at the end of 2005, after Hurricane Katrina.
In 2002, she planned to release her own solo music project. But this project was put on hold because she became pregnant that same year.
Music Achievements and Business
Chyna Whyte has been featured on many other artists' albums. These include Too Short's album "You Nasty," Bonecrusher's album "Attenchun," and Naughty By Nature's album "Iicons." She also made three mixtapes: The Whyte Out, Prelude To War, and The Real Deal Holyfield.
She earned Multi-Platinum and Gold awards from the RIAA. These awards were for her work on Lil Jon & The East Boyz's albums Kings of Crunk and Put Yo Hood Up. She also received another Gold award for Too Short's album You Nasty.
Chyna Whyte started her own music publishing company called Seed Shop LLC. She has been connected with BMI since 1997.
