What is the Cia-Cia Language?
The Cia-Cia language is also known as South Buton(ese). It is unique because of how it is written. For a long time, it used a local script called Gundul. But in 2009, something very interesting happened.

In 2009, the Cia-Cia language started using the Hangul alphabet. Hangul is the writing system for the Korean language. This was a big change! It helped the Cia-Cia people write down their language more easily.
Why Use Hangul?
The Cia-Cia language did not have its own official writing system. This made it hard to teach in schools. The government of Bau-Bau City decided to try Hangul. They hoped it would help preserve the language. It also made it easier for children to learn to read and write Cia-Cia.
