Cinctorres is a small town in Spain. It is located in the province of Castellón, which is part of the Valencian Community. This town belongs to a region called the Ports of Morella. In 2009, about 498 people lived there.

Geography

Cinctorres is built on a small flat area of land, called a plateau. This plateau is found between a mountain called Monte Bovalar and the Caldes river valley.

Because of its location, Cinctorres offers amazing views of the landscape. You might even see vultures flying high above. These large birds often make their nests in the rocks nearby.

Neighboring Towns

Cinctorres shares its borders with several other towns. These include Todolella, La Mata de Morella, Portell de Morella, Castellfort, Morella, and Forcall. All of these towns are also in the province of Castellón.

Main Sights

Cinctorres has several interesting historical places to visit:

  • Hermitages: These are small chapels. There is the Hermitage of St. Mark, built in the 16th century. Another is the Hermitage of St. Peter Martyr, from the 17th century.
  • Parish Church of St. Peter the Apostle: This large church was built in the 18th century. It is designed in the beautiful Baroque style.
  • Torre dels Moros: This means "Moorish Tower." It is an old tower with a long history.
  • Town Hall: The town's government building is a great example of late-Gothic style. It was built in the 16th century.
  • Palace of St. John: This grand building dates back to the 17th century.
  • Old Hospital: Built in the 16th century, this building now holds a special collection. You can see old fossils and tools used in daily life long ago.

Economy

The main way people make a living in Cinctorres is through farming animals. This is called cattle ranching. They especially raise many pigs, just like in other towns nearby.

In recent years, more and more people have been visiting the countryside. This has led to an increase in rural lodgings. These are places where tourists can stay, like guesthouses or small hotels. They help support the local farming activities. Also, construction companies and service businesses are becoming more important in the town's economy.
