The Circuit Calafat is a cool race track located near the town of L'Ametlla de Mar in Catalonia, Spain. It was built in 1974 and has been a place for exciting motorsport events ever since. It's a popular spot for drivers and riders to test their skills and for fans to watch thrilling races.

About Circuit Calafat

The Circuit Calafat is a special place for racing fans. It's a track where cars and motorcycles go really fast. It's located in a beautiful part of Spain, close to the Mediterranean Sea. Many different types of races and driving events happen here.

How the Circuit Started

The Circuit Calafat was built in 1974. A company called Calafat, S.A. paid for it. They spent about 30 million Spanish pesetas, which was a lot of money back then. Even some fans helped out by buying special shares in the track. This shows how much people wanted a place to race!

Growing and Improving

The track had a few small breaks in the 1980s due to some legal issues. But it always bounced back! In 1990, the circuit got bigger. They added a new section, making the track 3.25 kilometers (about 2 miles) long. This new layout has 19 turns, making it a fun challenge for drivers.

In 2008, the circuit started a plan to make things even better. They updated the facilities and made the track safer. Because of these improvements, in 2012, the circuit received a special approval from the Catalan Motorcycle Federation. This means it's a safe and proper place for motorcycle races.
