History of City Bell
How City Bell Was Founded
City Bell began around 1900. It was started by English immigrants led by a man named George Bell.
In 1913, George Bell's family sold a large piece of land. They sold it to a company called Sociedad Anónima de City Bell. This company wanted to divide the land into smaller pieces. Their goal was to create a new town.
The town was named City Bell to honor George Bell. The government officially approved the town on May 10, 1914. That same year, a train station for City Bell was finished. It was part of the Buenos Aires Great Southern Railway.
Early Growth and Development
The town didn't grow as fast as people hoped at first. Much of the land was used for farming.
But slowly, more people started to settle there. As the town grew, new services were added. For example, the local electric company started in 1922. A bigger train station was built in 1925.
