Clara Corral Aller was a talented poet from Galicia, Spain. She was born in Ourense on June 8, 1847, and passed away in A Coruña on February 9, 1908. Clara holds a special place in history because she was the second woman ever to publish a text in the Galician language during the 1800s. The first was the famous writer Rosalía de Castro.

Early Life and Family
Clara Corral Aller was the daughter of Dimas Corral Rebellón and Clara Aller Presas. When she was about five years old, in 1852, her family moved to Lugo. Later, she faced a difficult time when both her father and mother passed away.
Moving to Santiago
After becoming an orphan, Clara moved to Santiago de Compostela in 1868. She moved with her two sisters, Consuelo and Rita. In Santiago, Clara began to focus more on her writing and literary work.
A Poet's Journey
Clara Corral Aller's poems started appearing in newspapers and magazines of her time. These included El Diario de Santiago, Revista Compostelana de Instrucción y Recreo, and La Ilustración Gallega y Asturiana. This helped her share her creative voice with many readers.
Life in A Coruña
In 1884, Clara moved again, this time to A Coruña. She lived there with her brother and sister-in-law.
"A Herminia"
One of her notable works is a poem titled “A Herminia”. She published this poem in 1891. It was a special dedication to her niece, also named Herminia, who had become an orphan like Clara. Her niece, Rita's daughter, was also a member of the Royal Galician Academy, which was created in 1906.
Published Works
Many years after her death, in 1980, a collection of her poems was published. This book was called Poesias en gallego y castellano. Clara Corral Aller 1847-1908. It was put together by Dimas Romero Vázquez. The book includes her poems written in both Galician and Spanish.
Remembering Clara Corral Aller
To honor her memory, a street in her hometown of Ourense is named after her. This shows how important her contributions were to Galician literature.
