Clare is a small, quiet community in Indiana, United States. It's not a big city or a town with its own local government. Instead, it's an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that are part of a larger area, in this case, Hamilton County. Clare is located within White River Township.
The Story of Clare
The first people settled in the area now known as Clare around 1830. This makes it a place with a long history! Many years later, in 1878, a post office was opened in Clare. A post office is a place where people can send and receive mail. It was an important way for the community to connect with the outside world. However, the post office eventually closed its doors in 1902.
Where is Clare?
Clare is located right next to the White River. It sits on the eastern side of the river. Directly across the river from Clare is another community called Riverwood.
Clare has only one main street, which is called Clare Avenue. This street runs right next to State Road 37. The community of Clare is generally thought to stretch from 211th Street to 216th Street. It's a narrow strip of land found between State Road 37 and the White River.
