About the Story
The story of Clarence, the Cross-Eyed Lion follows Paula Tracey, played by Cheryl Miller. Paula is a brave and adventurous girl. Her father, Dr. Marsh Tracey (played by Marshall Thompson), is a veterinarian. This means he is a doctor for animals.
Dr. Tracey runs an animal hospital and nature preserve in East Africa. His main goal is to protect all the amazing African wildlife. He also studies and cares for animals that are hurt or are endangered. Endangered species are animals that are at risk of disappearing forever.
One day, Paula and her father discover Clarence. Clarence is a wild African lion with crossed eyes. This makes it very hard for him to hunt for food in the wild. So, they decide to adopt him. Clarence becomes a new, special member of their wildlife preserve family.
Later in the film, Clarence becomes a hero! He saves Julie Harper (played by Betsy Drake) and her research monkeys. They are in danger from animal poachers. Poachers are people who illegally hunt or capture wild animals.
