Claude Dauphin (born August 19, 1903 – died November 16, 1978) was a famous French actor. He acted in over 130 movies during his career, which lasted from 1930 to 1978. Some of his well-known films include Barbarella and The Quiet American. He also lent his voice to The Tale of the Fox, which is considered one of the very first stop-motion animated films ever made.
About Claude Dauphin
Claude Dauphin was born in a town called Corbeil-Essonnes in France. His father was Maurice Étienne Legrand, a poet who used the pen name Franc-Nohain. His father also wrote the story for an opera by the famous composer Maurice Ravel. Claude's older brother, Jean Nohain, was also a writer.
Claude Dauphin started his acting career in movies in 1930 with a film called La Vagabonde. In the same year, he also began acting on stage in Paris in a play called Chapeau Chinois.
His Family Life
Claude Dauphin was married three times. His first wife was Rosine Derean. Later, he married actress Maria Mauban. They had a son together named Jean-Claude Dauphin, who also became an actor, just like his father.
In 1955, Claude married an American actress named Norma Eberhardt. They lived in different cities, including Paris, Los Angeles, New York City, and Ocean Township, New Jersey. They stayed married until Claude Dauphin passed away in Paris in 1978.
