Claudio Pieri facts for kids
Claudio Pieri (21 October 1940 – 13 July 2018) was an Italian football referee. He was born in Pescia, Italy. He worked for UEFA and FIFA. He was appointed referee in the first leg final of the 1981 Coppa Italia (Roma - Torino). He was appointed international referee in 1983.
On 16 May 1982, he was suspected of favouring Juventus, which was winning its 20th championship, not granting a penalty to Catanzaro for an elbow of Sergio Brio on Carlo Borghi.
Pieri died on 13 July 2018 in Sestri Levante, Italy at the age of 77.
