Clear Creek, about 100 meters before it joins the Great Miami River in Franklin, Ohio.

Clear Creek is a small river, also called a tributary, that flows into the Great Miami River in southwestern Ohio. This creek starts in the southeastern part of Clearcreek Township. Many smaller streams, like Mad Run, Beech Run, and Twin Creek, flow into Clear Creek, making it bigger.

The area that Clear Creek drains, called its watershed, includes the highest point in Warren County east of Five Points. This high point is about 1,055 feet above sea level. Clear Creek collects water from most of Clearcreek Township, the town of Springboro, Ohio, and a large part of Franklin Township. Finally, it empties into the Great Miami River in the city of Franklin, Ohio.

Why is it Called Clear Creek?

Clear Creek got its name because its water was very clear. When early settlers arrived, they noticed how clean and see-through the water was. This clear water was important for people and wildlife living nearby. The creek was so well-known for its clear water that it even gave its name to Clearcreek Township in Warren County.
