The Clear Fork is a river that flows through Kentucky and Tennessee. It is about 42.8 miles (68.9 km) long. This river is a branch, or tributary, of the Cumberland River. The Clear Fork, Cumberland, and Ohio rivers are all part of the big Mississippi River system.
The Clear Fork River Journey
The Clear Fork river begins in Bell County, Kentucky. This is just north of the Tennessee border. From there, it flows towards the west and southwest.
Where the River Flows
The river soon crosses into Claiborne County, Tennessee. It flows past a small village called Clairfield. Then, the river turns more towards the northwest. It crosses back into Whitley County, Kentucky. The Clear Fork continues its journey until it meets the Cumberland River. This meeting point is just east of Williamsburg.
Roads Along the River
For much of its upper part, the Clear Fork river flows next to Tennessee State Route 90. Farther along, U.S. Route 25W and Tennessee State Route 9 follow the river to the Kentucky border. In Kentucky, U.S. Route 25W and Interstate 75 run through the river valley.
