Clearwater is a small, unincorporated community located in Saline Township within Sainte Genevieve County, Missouri, in the United States. An unincorporated community is a place that does not have its own local government. Instead, it is governed by the county or state. Clearwater is found about fifteen miles southwest of the city of Sainte Genevieve. It is situated along Missouri Supplemental Route W.
History of Clearwater, Missouri
The community of Clearwater got its name from its first postmaster, J. C. Nations. He chose the name "Clearwater" because his cousin lived in Clearwater, Florida. This Florida city is on the west coast of the state, not far from Tampa.
Post Office Operations
A post office was first opened in Clearwater, Missouri, in the year 1929. This office served the local community for many years. It continued to operate until 1981, when it was eventually closed down.
