Cleve Francis, born on April 22, 1945, is an amazing American who is both a country music singer and a heart doctor! He has been making music since the late 1960s. So far, he has released nine albums. Three of these were with Liberty Records. Cleve Francis has also had four songs appear on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. His most popular song was "You Do My Heart Good" in 1992.

Cleve Francis's Life Story

Cleve Francis started his music journey in the late 1960s. Back then, he sang folk and blues songs. He was also a student at the College of William & Mary. He earned a special degree there in 1969.

After that, he went to medical school. This was at the Medical College of Virginia. Today, that school is called Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. Cleve Francis worked hard and became a cardiologist. A cardiologist is a doctor who specializes in treating heart problems.

From Doctor to Country Star

Even though he was a doctor, Cleve Francis loved music. In the late 1980s, he decided to focus on country music. He signed with a record company called Playback Records. His first country album, Last Call for Love, came out that year. This album had a song called "Love Light." They even made a music video for "Love Light."

A famous music producer named Jimmy Bowen saw the "Love Light" video on CMT. He was very impressed! In 1992, Jimmy Bowen helped Cleve Francis sign with Liberty Records.

Music Success and Return to Medicine

Between 1992 and 1994, Cleve Francis released three albums with Liberty Records. During this time, four of his songs made it onto the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts. This chart is now known as Hot Country Songs.

In 1994, Cleve Francis decided to go back to his medical work. He returned to his heart doctor practice in Northern Virginia. He is now the president of Mount Vernon Cardiology Associates.

Cleve Francis still performs music sometimes. He has played at The Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia. He even has a live album from 2006 called Storytime, which was recorded there. In 2022, he released "Beyond the Willow Tree." This album was a new version of his folk album from 1970, called "Follow Me." It also included other folk songs he recorded earlier.
