The Cleveland Giants were a Negro league baseball team that played for just one year in 1933. They played their home games at a place called Luna Bowl in Cleveland, Ohio. Even though they were only around for a short time, they were part of an important league in baseball history.

The Cleveland Giants were a professional baseball team. They were part of the Negro National League. This league was very important because it gave African American players a chance to play professional baseball. This was before baseball was fully integrated.
How the Team Started
The Cleveland Giants actually started out as another team. They were first known as the Columbus Blue Birds. That team was struggling in the Negro National League. In the middle of the 1933 season, the Blue Birds stopped playing. The team then became the Cleveland Giants. It was mostly the same players, but with a new name and city. For a very short time, they were even called the Akron Black Tyrites!

The Cleveland Giants only played for one season. During that year, they won 22 games and lost 28 games. They did not continue as a team after the 1933 season ended.
