Clifton is a small area in Western Australia. It is located in the Peel region. You can find Clifton between the cities of Mandurah and Bunbury. It is also right next to the suburb of Herron.

Clifton sits on a narrow strip of land. To its east, you'll find Lake Clifton and Yalgorup National Park. To the west, it borders the huge Indian Ocean. This area is not currently home to many people.

Clifton's Past

The land where Clifton is located has a long history. The local Noongar people, who are Australia's First Peoples, originally called this area "Koolijerrenup."

Later, the area was named "Clifton." This was done to honor Marshall Walter Clifton (1787–1861). He was an important person in the early days of Western Australia. Marshall Walter Clifton was the Chief Commissioner for a settlement called Australind. He also became a member of the Legislative Council, which helped make laws for the area.

Getting Around Clifton

Clifton does not have public transport services. This means there are no buses or trains that go directly to Clifton.
