Clinchport is a very small town in Scott County, Virginia, in the United States. In 2020, only 64 people lived there. This makes Clinchport the town with the fewest people in all of Virginia.
The town is part of a larger area often called the "Tri-Cities" region. This area includes cities like Kingsport and Bristol in both Tennessee and Virginia. Clinchport got its name because it is located right on the Clinch River.
Clinchport's small population is mainly due to a very big flood in 1977. This flood was so severe it's called a "100-year flood" because it's the kind of flood that only happens about once every 100 years. After the flood, local leaders and the Tennessee Valley Authority helped people move to safer places nearby. Because of this, not many buildings are left in the parts of town that used to flood often.
