Club Cola is a popular German cola soft drink. It was first made in a country called East Germany.
Back then, the leaders of East Germany wanted their own cola. They wanted it to taste and look like the colas sold in Western countries. So, they started a project to create their very own drink.
The government announced this plan at a big fair in Leipzig in 1966. On April 19, 1967, the first Club Cola bottles were filled in East Berlin. People in East Germany loved this new drink! It became so popular that in 1972, Club Cola won a gold award for soft drinks at the Leipzig fair.
Club Cola Today: A Blast from the Past
After East and West Germany became one country again, Club Cola was brought back. In 1992, a new company called Spreequell Mineralbrunnen GmbH started making it. Now, you can find Club Cola all over Germany.
Club Cola became popular again partly because of something called Ostalgie. This is a feeling of missing things from the old East Germany. But Club Cola is also promoted as a cool, modern drink for young people today.
