Clyde Simms (born August 21, 1982) is a former professional soccer player from America. He played in Major League Soccer (MLS) from 2005 to 2013. He also played for the United States national team.

Clyde Simms' Soccer Journey
College Years and Early Career
Clyde Simms was born in Jamestown, North Carolina. He went to Southwest Guilford High School in High Point, North Carolina. After high school, he played college soccer at East Carolina University. He played there from 2000 to 2003.
During his time at East Carolina, Simms played in 72 games. He scored seven goals and made seven assists. He was also the team captain for his last three years. This showed his strong leadership skills.
Becoming a Professional Player
After college, Clyde Simms was not chosen by any Major League Soccer (MLS) teams right away. Instead, he signed with the Richmond Kickers. This team played in a league called the A-League. He had a good first season with the Kickers. He started 28 games for the club.
Simms's talent became more widely known in 2005. He was asked to join the United States national team training camp. He impressed everyone there. Even after a player disagreement was solved, Simms was asked to stay and train with the main team.
Playing in Major League Soccer
Because of his great performance at the national team camp, several MLS teams became interested in Simms. On February 25, 2005, D.C. United signed him. He played for D.C. United for seven seasons.
In the 2008 MLS season, Simms played in 30 games for D.C. United. He started all 30 of those games. He scored two goals and made two assists that season. He hardly missed any playing time, showing how important he was to the team.
After his time with D.C. United, Simms moved to a new team. He was chosen by the New England Revolution in a special draft on December 12, 2011. He signed a contract with them eleven days later. Simms played for the New England Revolution for two seasons. He announced that he was retiring from soccer on February 13, 2014.
Representing His Country
Clyde Simms played one game for the United States national team. This happened on May 28, 2005. He came into the game as a substitute during injury time against the England team. This was a big moment in his career.
