The village of Clyman has a history that dates back to the mid-1800s. A post office opened in Clyman in 1849, which means people were living and sending mail from there a long time ago.
The village was named after an important person named James Clyman. He was a pioneer and a frontiersman, which means he was one of the first people to explore and settle new parts of the country.
