Coca-Cola Park: Home of the IronPigs
What is Coca-Cola Park?
Coca-Cola Park is a modern baseball stadium. It's where the Lehigh Valley IronPigs play their home games. The stadium opened its doors on March 30, 2008. It quickly became a popular spot for baseball fans.
The IronPigs team name comes from "pig iron." This was a key material used in making steel. Steel was a very important industry in the Lehigh Valley for many years. You'll see lots of "pig" themes around the park!
Cool Features of the Park

Coca-Cola Park has many fun things to see and do. You can visit the team store to buy IronPigs gear. There's also a special area called the "Bacon Strip." It's behind the right field wall where fans can stand and hang out during the game.
The "Picnic Patio" is next to left field. It offers buffet-style food and is great for groups. The stadium's club level has an indoor area. This gives you access to club seats, private suites, and two party porches.
Fun Zones and Seating
You can find "Dugout Suites" right behind home plate. These seats are a bit lower than the field. There's also a "Kid Zone" with a playground. Kids can enjoy games like speed pitch and slides there.
In 2012, the park added the "Tiki Terrace" in left field. It's above the bullpens and has group seating. There are also tables for four and a bar area for all fans.
The park has many seating choices. You can sit on the grass berm in center field. There are also picnic benches, regular fold-down seats, and standing room areas.
The Big Scoreboard
The main scoreboard is huge! It's located 400 feet from home plate. It features a large high-definition video board. There's also a long LED ribbon board. A giant Coca-Cola bottle on the scoreboard even launches fireworks when the IronPigs score a run!
A Look at the Park's History
How it was Built
Construction for Coca-Cola Park began on September 6, 2006. The stadium was finished in February 2008. It was built on land that used to belong to LSI Corporation. The field's size and wall heights are similar to Citizens Bank Park. That's the home of the Philadelphia Phillies!
Coca-Cola Park is Allentown's newest stadium. However, it's not the biggest. J. Birney Crum Stadium holds over 15,000 people. That makes it the second-largest outdoor high school stadium in Pennsylvania.
The main entrance to Coca-Cola Park is a bit unique. It's located on the right field line. Most ballparks have their main entrance behind home plate. But if you have club seating tickets, you get a special entrance behind home plate.
Beyond Baseball: Concerts and All-Star Games
Coca-Cola Park isn't just for baseball! On July 14, 2009, it hosted its first big concert. Famous musicians like Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and John Mellencamp performed. Over 10,000 people attended the sold-out show.
The stadium also hosted the 2010 Triple-A All-Star Game. In that game, the International League All-Stars won against the Pacific Coast League All-Stars.
Phillies Players Visit
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Major League Baseball had a shorter season. Minor League Baseball games were canceled. Coca-Cola Park became the Philadelphia Phillies' alternate training site.
Sometimes, big Phillies stars come to Coca-Cola Park for "rehab stints." This happens when a player is recovering from an injury. They play a few games with the IronPigs to get back in shape. In August 2022, Phillies star Bryce Harper played here. Fans were super excited, and games quickly sold out! Harper even hit two home runs in one game. In 2015, Chase Utley, another Phillies legend, also played a rehab game here and hit a home run to a sold-out crowd.
Getting to Coca-Cola Park
The stadium is on the east side of Allentown. You can get to the main entrance from U.S. Route 22 via American Parkway. There are also local roads like Union Boulevard and Airport Road. You can find paid parking in several lots at the stadium.
