Cochise is a small place in Cochise County, Arizona, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, the county helps manage it.
Cochise started in the 1880s because of the Southern Pacific Railroad. This big train company built tracks through the area. The town became an important stop for trains. They needed to get coal and water there to keep their steam engines running.
At one point, about 3,000 people lived in Cochise. But today, only around 50 people call it home. Even though it's small now, Cochise has some cool historic spots. For example, in 1899, a famous woman named Big Nose Kate lived here. She was known for being a friend of the Old West figure Doc Holliday. She worked at the Cochise Hotel after Holliday passed away. The area's ZIP Code is 85606.
Climate in Cochise
Cochise has a semi-arid climate. This means it's usually quite dry, like a desert, but it gets a bit more rain than a true desert. The weather is often sunny and warm.
