Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island (often called Coconut Fred) is a fun animated TV show from America and Canada. It was shown on Kids' WB in the United States. The show ran from September 17, 2005, to May 27, 2006. Warner Bros. Animation made this series.

The story of Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island happens on an island where only fruit live! The fruit friends enjoy their sunny home without any worries. But they share their peaceful island with the super imaginative Coconut Fred. He is a happy and a bit silly coconut who can make anything he thinks about come true.

The show is all about Fred and his friends' adventures. Fred's wild ideas often cause funny problems. His friends then try to fix the messes he creates. Their adventures can be anything from needing a "fruit canal" (like a dentist visit) to sailing off the island and getting caught in a huge storm!

Meet the Main Characters

Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island
Main characters of the series.

Here are the main fruit characters you'll meet on Fruit Salad Island:

  • Coconut Fred (voiced by Rob Paulsen): Fred is a very cheerful coconut. He has a super active imagination. The coolest thing about Fred is that he can make anything he imagines real! You'll often hear him say, "Yay me!" and "Now you're talking, coconut!"
  • Slip & Slide D'Peel (both voiced by Eric Bauza): These two are banana brothers from the countryside. They are not always the smartest, and they often take things too seriously. It's hard to tell them apart unless someone calls one of them by name. They are in a band with Fred called "Coconut Fred's All-Body Sound Band." Their music uses funny body noises like burps and armpit sounds!
  • Bingo Cherry (voiced by Tracey Moore for the first two episodes, then by Britt McKillip): Bingo is a very shy and easily scared cherry. He usually hangs out with Fred, Slip, Slide, and Bunga Berry. Fred sometimes scares Bingo without even meaning to!
  • Mr. Mel Greenrind (voiced by Michael Donovan): Mr. Greenrind is a watermelon. He often tries to keep everything organized on the island. He uses his special "squeaky board" which has many rules. A lot of these rules are silly, but they often apply to Fred and his friends. Fred's antics can really get on Mr. Greenrind's nerves. But sometimes, Mr. Greenrind does show kindness to Fred, though it usually doesn't last long!
  • Wedgie (voiced by Brian Drummond): Wedgie is a lemon who works as a sailor. He ended up on Fruit Salad Island because of Fred. Wedgie spends a lot of time talking to "Betty," a wooden figure on his ship. He often makes plans to escape the island. But Fred's actions, on purpose or by accident, always stop his plans.
  • Bunga Berry (voiced by David Kaye): Bunga is a wild strawberry who doesn't speak. He only communicates with grunts and growls. Even though he doesn't use words, everyone on the island understands him. He is also very calm and gets along well with everyone.

Other Island Friends

  • Butchy (voiced by Eric Bauza): Butchy is a gravenstein apple. He is known as the island's troublemaking bully. He likes to scare other fruits, especially Bingo.
  • Black Berry: This character is Butchy's helper. As his name suggests, he's a blackberry. Butchy keeps him in his pocket. He's a funny nod to the old BlackBerry phones!
  • Tiffany Pears (voiced by Britt McKillip): Tiffany is a famous singer on Fruit Salad Island. Everyone loves her music except for Mr. Greenrind. In one episode, she held the record for the most off-key singer ever! Her name sounds like the famous singer Britney Spears.
  • B.L. Tomato (voiced by Ashleigh Ball): B.L. is a tomato who feels a bit like an outsider. He's always trying to figure out if he's a fruit or a vegetable. (Fun fact: a tomato is actually a fruit!) In one episode, he even became a villain called the Tomatonator!
  • Rusty Candoo: Rusty is Fred's friend. He's a can of fruit. He appeared in a few episodes and in the show's theme song.
  • Slurpy (voiced by Eddie Deezen): Slurpy is a fruit bat who wants to eat the island's fruit residents. He is afraid of bright light.
  • Melanie Greenrind (voiced by Maria Bamford): Melanie is Mr. Greenrind's cheerful niece. She loves to make and enforce rules even more than her uncle! She carries a very noisy chalkboard.
  • Vic the Alien: Vic is an alien from outer space. Fred and his friends thought he was a tourist. But Vic was actually planning to invade the island with his spaceship fleet! Fred and his friends accidentally messed up his ship, causing him to cancel his invasion.
  • Mrs. Plumcott (voiced by Kathleen Barr): Mrs. Plumcott is the island's sweet old plum lady. She doesn't like Mr. Greenrind very much. Her favorite thing to say is, "Oh dear."
  • Dr. Bartlett (voiced by Brian Drummond): Dr. Bartlett is a pear who works as the dentist on Fruit Salad Island.
