Coe Unincorporated Community
Coe is another community within the township. It is not an official village or city, but it is a recognized place. The first person to claim land here was Perry H. Estee in 1854. Later that same year, the first families, including James Woolsey, Daniel Brickley, and John Steward, settled in the area.
The township itself was officially formed in 1855. It was named after George A. Coe, who was the Lieutenant Governor of Michigan at the time. A post office operated in Coe from 1891 to 1904.
