About Their Shells

The shell of a Coelotrochus snail has a deep, narrow hole. This hole is called a false umbilicus. It goes deeper than the central pillar of the shell. This pillar is known as the columella. The columella is attached to the edge of this deep opening.

Where They Live

This type of sea snail lives only in New Zealand. This means they are endemic to that country. You won't find them naturally anywhere else in the world.
