Coline Serreau (born October 29, 1947) is a talented French actress, film director, and writer. She is known for creating movies and plays.
Her 1985 comedy Trois hommes et un couffin (which was remade in the US as Three Men and a Baby) was a huge success. It became the most popular French film of the 1980s.

Early Life and Training
Coline Serreau was born in Paris, France. Her father, Jean-Marie Serreau, was a famous theatre director. Her mother, Geneviève Serreau, was an actress.
Growing up in Paris, Coline studied many different subjects. She learned about literature, music, and theatre. She even became a trained organist and a trapeze artist!
Her work on stage began at the famous Comédie-Française theatre. She has written many plays for the stage. Her first movie, Pourquoi pas!, came out in 1977. It was a love story that became popular across Europe.
Her Career in Film and Theatre
Coline Serreau started her acting career in 1970 at the Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier. She wrote her very first movie script in 1973.
Her first film was a documentary film called Mais qu'est-ce qu'elles veulent? (1978). This title means "But What Is It That They Want?". The movie showed interviews with women from different backgrounds. Their honest stories surprised many people.
Her biggest movie success was the comedy film Three Men and a Cradle (Trois hommes et un couffin). This movie came out in 1985. Coline won three César Awards for it in 1986. The film was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. This is a very important award for movies not made in English.
In 1986, Coline wrote her first play for the stage, called Lapin Lapin (Rabbit Rabbit). A director named Benno Besson helped bring it to life. She worked with Besson for several years. He also directed her plays Le théâtre de verdure (1987) and Quisaitout et Grobêta (1993).
