Early Life and Learning
Coline Serreau was born in Paris, France. Her father, Jean-Marie Serreau, was a famous theatre director (someone who guides actors and crew in a play). Her mother, Geneviève Serreau, was an actress.
Growing up in Paris, Coline studied many things. She learned about literature, music, and theatre. She even became a trained organist and a trapeze artist!
Her first acting jobs were at the Comédie-Française, a famous French theatre. She also wrote many plays. Her first film as a director was Pourquoi pas! in 1977. It was a love story that became popular across Europe.
In 1985, she directed a comedy called Trois hommes et un couffin. This movie was a huge success in France. It was even remade in the United States as Three Men and a Baby.
