Colonial Lake is a beautiful 25-acre lake located in Lawrence Township, New Jersey. It's not a natural lake, but a "man-made" one, which means people built it! It was created along a small stream called Shabakunk Creek.

About Colonial Lake

Colonial Lake is found in Mercer County. You can easily spot it on Business Route 1. It's right across the street from the Lawrence Shopping Center. This makes it a well-known spot in the area.

How Colonial Lake Was Made

Colonial Lake was built in 1924. To create the lake, a special wall called an "earthen dam" was built across the Shabakunk Creek. This dam held back the water, forming the lake.

Local housing developers were the ones who built it. They wanted to create fun outdoor activities for a new neighborhood. This neighborhood became known as Colonial Lakelands. The lake was a big part of their plan for recreation.

Fun at Colonial Lake Park
