The Colonial National Bank Building, also known as the Grant Myers Building, is a cool old bank building in Connellsville, Pennsylvania. It's a historic spot in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

This building was first built in 1906. Back then, it was just one story tall and had an open space inside for the bank. Later, in the 1930s, it was changed to be two stories. It has a special look called "Classical Revival" style, with big, fancy columns on two sides.

The Colonial National Bank Building's History

The Colonial National Bank Building has been around for a long time! It first opened its doors in 1906. When it was new, it was a single-story building. This meant it had one main floor for all the bank's business.

In the 1930s, the building got a big makeover. It was changed from one story to two stories. This gave the bank more space and changed its look quite a bit.

What Makes the Building Special?

The building has a unique design called "Classical Revival" architecture. This style looks back to the ancient buildings of Greece and Rome. Think of famous old temples with grand columns!

The Colonial National Bank Building has four tall columns on each of its two main sides. These columns are called "Ionic order" columns. Ionic columns are easy to spot because they have a special scroll-like shape at the top, like a ram's horn. These columns support a triangular part above them, called a pediment. It makes the building look very grand and important.

Why is it a Historic Place?

The Colonial National Bank Building is so special that it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. The National Register is like a special list of buildings, sites, and objects in the United States that are important to history. When a building is on this list, it means it's recognized for its historical or architectural value. It helps protect these places for future generations to enjoy and learn from.
