Maria Conchita Gélabert (born in 1857, died in 1922) was a talented singer and actress from Spain. She became famous in France during the late 1800s.

Her Life Story

Conchita Gélabert was born in Madrid, Spain. When she was a teenager, in 1873, she joined the Conservatoire de Paris, which is a famous music and drama school in Paris, France. She worked very hard and in 1876, she won a top prize for her skills in opéra comique. An opéra comique is a type of opera that often includes spoken dialogue and can be funny or light-hearted.

In 1877, Conchita started performing at the Théâtre des Folies-Dramatiques. Here, she helped create a very popular show called Les Cloches de Corneville. After that, she also performed at the Théâtre de la Gaîté. Some of her other famous roles were in shows like Le Grand Mogol, Le Voyage de Suzette, and La Fille du tambour-major.

Conchita Gélabert stopped acting in 1890. She lived a quiet life after leaving the stage. She passed away in Paris.
