Conklin, Missouri facts for kids

Conklin is a small, quiet community located in the western part of Webster County, Missouri in the United States. It's not a big city, but rather an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own local government like a town or city does.

You can find Conklin along Missouri Route 38. It's about six miles (or about 10 kilometers) northwest of a larger town called Marshfield, Missouri. If you travel a bit further north on Route 38, you'll reach another community called Elkland, Missouri, which is about four miles away.

History of Conklin

Conklin has a bit of history, even though it's a small place. A post office was opened there in 1881. This was an important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. However, the post office eventually closed its doors in 1906.

The community of Conklin was named after a famous person named Roscoe Conkling. He was a very important politician from New York who served as a United States Senator. Senators are elected officials who represent their state in the U.S. government, helping to make laws for the whole country.
