Connor is a small, unincorporated community in Cassia County, Idaho, United States. An unincorporated community means it's not an official city or town with its own local government. It is located along Idaho State Highway 77, about 7.5 miles (12 km) west of Malta.

Why is it Called Connor?

Connor is named after Colonel Patrick Edward Connor. He was a military leader in the 1800s, known for his actions during the time of westward expansion in the American Old West.

Colonel Connor was stationed at Camp Douglas, Utah. In 1864, he sent Captain Samuel P. Smith to confront a group of Native Americans in Idaho. This event took place near the area now known as Connor Creek.

Historically, this event was sometimes seen as a response to an earlier incident. Three years before, there were claims that nearly 300 settlers were killed by Native Americans near Almo Creek. However, later research by historians like James Loewen has found no evidence that any settlers were killed in the Almo area. This shows how historical stories can change over time as more information is discovered.
