María del Consuelo de Fátima Rodríguez Píriz (born in 1960 – died on February 22, 2021) was a Spanish politician. She was a member of the People's Party, which is a major political group in Spain. She served in the Assembly of Extremadura from 2011 until her death in 2021. The Assembly of Extremadura is like a regional parliament for the area of Extremadura in Spain.

Consuelo Rodríguez Píriz was born in Olivenza, a town in the province of Badajoz, in 1960. She went to college and studied Psychology at the University of Granada. She also earned a special diploma in Hearing and Language from the University of Extremadura.

Her Work in Politics

From 1999 to 2011, Consuelo Rodríguez Píriz worked as a city councilor in Badajoz. This means she was part of the local government for the city. During this time, she was in charge of different areas like culture, local fairs, and festivals.

In 2011, she was elected as a deputy to the Assembly of Extremadura. A deputy is a person chosen to represent people in a parliament or assembly. She held this important role until she passed away. From 2011 to 2015, she was also the first vice president of the Assembly. This was a high-ranking position within the regional government.

Her Passing

In January 2021, Consuelo Rodríguez Píriz became ill with COVID-19. She was taken to the Badajoz University Hospital. Sadly, she passed away three weeks later, on February 22, 2021, at the age of 60. She was the first Spanish politician who was still working in office to die from the virus during the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain.
