How Did Cook's Bay Get Its Name?

The bay was named by John Graves Simcoe. He was the very first Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada. He named the bay after James Cook, a famous explorer. James Cook had worked as a master on a ship called HMS Pembroke in 1759. The ship's captain was John Simcoe, who was the father of the Lieutenant-Governor.
