History of Cordeaux Heights

Before 1973, the land where Cordeaux Heights now stands was made up of three dairy farms. Cows grazed on these farms for many years.

In 1973, a company called R. W. Sheargold Pty. Ltd. bought these farms. They saw the chance to build a new suburb there.

Planning the Suburb

In 1979, the Wollongong City Council created a plan for Cordeaux Heights. This plan aimed to build homes and facilities for up to 5,000 people.

The design of the suburb focused on how people would move around. It was important for both cars and people walking. The plan included special open spaces for fun and relaxation. There was a goal to have at least 3 hectares of open space for every 1,000 people.

The company building the suburb also had to build new roads. These roads were designed to make it easy to get into and around the new area. The plan also considered bus routes, schools, and protecting the environment.
