Farmborough Heights is a suburb located in the city of Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. It sits west of Unanderra and is nestled in the foothills of Mount Kembla. This area is mostly made up of houses, and it also has a general store. Some older shops, including a takeaway, were replaced with new homes around 2010.

Farmborough Heights is built on two ridges. These ridges are lower parts of Mount Kembla. The main road to get into the suburb is Farmborough Road. Other important roads like Waples Road and Panorama Drive also lead into the area.

Over the last 10 to 15 years, many new and larger homes have been built in Farmborough Heights. Because the suburb is on higher ground, many houses have amazing views. You can often see both the ocean and the mountains from these homes.

Schools in the Area

For younger students, Farmborough Road Public School is the local primary school. It is actually located in the nearby suburb of Unanderra. This area also has the Families at Farmborough Community Centre for preschool children.

For high school, Illawarra Sports High in Berkeley is the local public high school. Figtree High School is another high school close by, about 4 kilometres away. There are also several church-based school options. These include Cedars and St Pius for primary students. A Look Back in Time

Farmborough Heights was originally made up of three separate farms. The farmhouses from these original farms are still standing today! One is on Silvertop, another is on Farmborough Road (not far from the general store), and the third is just east of Coachwood Drive. These three houses were the very first homes in Farmborough. Today, over 2,000 houses stand on land that once belonged to just three farmers.
