Corey Reynolds (born July 3, 1974) is an American actor. He is well-known for playing Seaweed in the Broadway musical Hairspray. You might also know him as David Gabriel from the TV show The Closer or Sheriff Mike Thompson in the SyFy series Resident Alien.

Corey Reynolds' Early Life and Career
Corey Reynolds was born in Richmond, Virginia. He went to Monacan High School there. After high school, he moved to California to start his acting career. He began performing in shows at Paramount Kings Dominion, a fun amusement park.
While in California, Corey joined a traveling show called Smokey Joe's Cafe. He also toured with the musical Saturday Night Fever. After these tours, he moved to New York City to try out for different shows.
His Big Break in Hairspray
Corey was first chosen to be part of the group of performers in Hairspray. But after reading for the part three times, he was offered the main role of Seaweed. For his amazing performance, he was nominated for two big awards: a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award. Both nominations were for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical. This was a huge achievement!

Before his role in The Closer, Corey Reynolds appeared in TV shows like Without a Trace and The Guardian. To prepare for his role as David Gabriel in The Closer, he used his past experience working in security and law enforcement. He played David Gabriel for many years, appearing in over 100 episodes.
Corey has also been in several movies. These include The Terminal, Red Tails, and Straight Outta Compton. More recently, he plays Sheriff Mike Thompson in the funny and dramatic SyFy show Resident Alien. In this show, he works alongside an alien who is pretending to be a human doctor.
