Corey Reynolds (born July 3, 1974) is an American actor famous for his roles on stage and screen. He is well-known for playing Seaweed in the Broadway musical Hairspray. You might also recognize him as Sergeant David Gabriel in the crime show The Closer or as Sheriff Mike Thompson in the sci-fi series Resident Alien.

From Virginia to the Big Stage
Corey Reynolds was born in Richmond, Virginia. He went to Monacan High School and started his performing career at the Paramount Kings Dominion theme park. To follow his acting dreams, he moved to California.
His first big break was joining a traveling show called Smokey Joe's Cafe. After that, he toured with the musical Saturday Night Fever. These experiences led him to New York City, the heart of American theater.
Starring in Hairspray
In New York, Reynolds auditioned for the musical Hairspray. At first, he was just part of the background cast. But after the directors heard him read for a main part, they gave him the role of Seaweed J. Stubbs.
His performance was a huge success! He was nominated for two major theater awards: the Tony Award and the Drama Desk Award. Both nominations were for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical.
Career on Screen
Besides his work in theater, Reynolds has had a successful career in television and movies. Before his famous role in The Closer, he appeared as a guest star on shows like Without a Trace and The Guardian. To prepare for his role as a police officer, he used his own past experience working in security.
He has also acted in popular movies, including The Terminal, Red Tails, and Straight Outta Compton. He currently plays the funny and tough Sheriff Mike Thompson in the SyFy series Resident Alien.
